Malkajgiri Commissioner Inspects Keesara and Yapral Ward for Monsoon Preparedness

On Saturday, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy conducted a comprehensive field inspection of key waterlogging-prone areas in Keesara and Yapral Ward to review monsoon preparedness. The inspection was carried out to identify vulnerable spots and implement immediate measures to prevent flooding in several residential neighborhoods ahead of the rainy season.
During his visit, Commissioner Reddy inspected several locations within Keesara Circle-1. These areas included Laxmipuri Colony, SS Enclave, Employees Colony, Swandra in Yapral Ward, Balaji Nagar Main Road in Jawaharnagar, and the area located directly opposite the dumping yard at Chandrapuri Colony.
To address immediate drainage issues, the Commissioner directed municipal officials to undertake urgent catchpit cleaning at Laxmipuri Colony, Employees Colony, and Balaji Nagar Main Road. These measures are intended to ensure that rainwater can flow freely into the drainage system without causing local flooding.
At Swandra, Commissioner Reddy instructed the officials to create an open trench. This trench will facilitate the safe and efficient discharge of excess rainwater into Nagi Reddy Kunta during the heavy downpours of the monsoon season.
In addition to these measures, the Commissioner inspected the area opposite the dumping yard at Chandrapuri Colony. He instructed officials to expedite the ongoing culvert works in this vicinity. He emphasized that officials must ensure a proper gradient and secure connectivity from Malkaram Lake to the leachate pond to allow for uninterrupted stormwater flow.
Following the field inspection, Commissioner Reddy held a formal review meeting with local contractors, builders, and representatives from the C&D Waste Processing Agency. The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss and strengthen construction and demolition (C&D) waste management practices across the city.
During the meeting, the Commissioner issued a stern warning to all stakeholders, stating that the illegal dumping of construction and demolition waste at any unauthorized location would attract strict penalties. He directed all stakeholders to ensure that all waste is disposed of scientifically through the authorized C&D waste processing agency, thereby keeping the city clean, safe, and environmentally responsible.
