Major Fire Guts Plywood Shops in Hyderabad's Gudimalkapur

A major fire broke out at plywood shops in the Gudimalkapur area of Hyderabad on Sunday morning, gutting property worth lakhs of rupees.
According to fire department officials, the blaze began at around 9.30 a.m. Local residents and police personnel noticed the fire and alerted the fire department at approximately 10.15 a.m.
Upon receiving the alert, an initial fire tender from the Langer Houz fire station was dispatched to the location. However, by the time the crew arrived, the flames had already spread rapidly across the commercial establishments.
Recognising the severity and rapid spread of the blaze, authorities rushed six additional fire tenders to the scene to reinforce firefighting operations. In total, seven fire tenders were deployed to battle the flames.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze completely under control within two hours of launching the operation. Emergency personnel faced significant operational challenges during the firefighting efforts because the commercial establishments were shut for Sunday, restricting immediate access to the premises.
Langer Houz Station Fire Officer N. Mahesh confirmed the timeline and operational hurdles encountered by the team. He stated that the fire was brought under control within two hours, noting that the closure of the shops due to the Sunday holiday posed difficulties for the responding teams.
No casualties were immediately reported. Officials noted that the exact cause of the fire is being ascertained as an investigation into the incident gets underway.
