Mailardevpally Police Arrest Businessman, Seize Eight Quintals of PDS Rations

On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the Mailardevpally police arrested a 35-year-old businessman for illegally storing and selling government-supplied Public Distribution System (PDS) ration rice and wheat in the Housing Board Colony of Mailardevpally, Hyderabad.

The law enforcement officials conducted a raid on a room located within the Housing Board Colony on July 8. During the search of the targeted premises, officers discovered several bags filled with government-allocated ration rice and wheat that were meant for public distribution through the PDS.

A man who was present at the location during the police raid was immediately taken into custody by the officers. The police identified the arrested individual as Mir Ahmed Ali. The 35-year-old businessman is a resident of MCH Colony, which is located in NS Kunta, Jahanuma, Falaknuma.

During his subsequent questioning in police custody, the accused businessman confessed to his illegal trade activities. According to the police, Mir Ahmed Ali admitted that he had been purchasing the government-supplied PDS ration rice and wheat directly from residents living in various colonies. He acquired these essential food supplies at low prices and then hoarded them in the room in the Housing Board Colony. His plan was to resell the rationed rice and wheat to other buyers at significantly higher rates to generate a profit for himself.

Following the confession and the search of the room, the Mailardevpally police seized a total of four quintals of ration rice and four quintals of wheat from the possession of the accused.

The police have registered a criminal case against Mir Ahmed Ali for his involvement in the illegal storage and sale of government-supplied rations. The Mailardevpally police officials stated that further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
