Maheshwar Reddy Urges Railway Minister to Sanction Armoor-Adilabad Rail Line

During the Union Railway Minister’s visit to Hyderabad, BJP Legislature party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy met with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to urge the swift sanctioning and expediting of the proposed 136.503-kilometer Armoor–Adilabad railway line. Reddy also requested the inclusion of the broader Patancheru–Adilabad railway line in the central government's Pink Book.
In a formal letter delivered to the minister in Hyderabad, Maheshwar Reddy noted that the South Central Railway had already submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Patancheru–Adilabad railway line to the Railway Board in October last year. Furthermore, the final location survey for the proposed project has already been completed.
The proposed railway line, which will run via Nirmal, is expected to significantly improve connectivity across north Telangana. Reddy emphasized that the infrastructure project would provide a major boost to the region's economy and local industries.
According to the BJP leader, rail transport remains the cheapest mode of travel for the public. He stated that the new line would allow local traders to easily access larger markets in Nizamabad and Adilabad. Additionally, the railway line would improve access for students traveling to universities located in Hyderabad, Nanded, and Karimnagar.
The project is also expected to expand the market reach for Nirmal’s famous traditional toys and handicrafts.
Addressing specific local needs, Reddy pointed out that Armoor is the second-largest town in the Nizamabad district and is known for its strong agricultural and economic activity. However, the nearby town of Ankapur, which is widely recognized for its agricultural innovation, still lacks direct rail connectivity.
Beyond local trade, the proposed railway line would serve a broader national purpose by providing a shorter transit route for traffic moving from the west coast of India to the northeastern region. Reddy urged Minister Vaishnaw to personally review the proposal and grant the necessary sanctions at the earliest.
