Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri Star in Maa Behen Released on Netflix

The Hindi dark comedy-drama film Maa Behen, starring veteran actress Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri, premiered directly for digital streaming on Netflix on June 4, 2026. Directed by Suresh Triveni, the film presents a suspenseful family drama to viewers in Hyderabad and across the globe.
The plot centers on Rekha, played by Madhuri Dixit, a lower-middle-class housewife who lives a simple life with her two daughters, Jaya, played by Triptii Dimri, and Sushma, played by Dharna Durga. Their peaceful existence takes an unexpected turn when a man from the neighboring house is found dead under suspicious circumstances inside their home. The core of the story revolves around the bizarre and chaotic situations the three women encounter as they attempt to hide the body to avoid police suspicion and keep their neighbors from finding out the truth.
Produced by Vikram Malhotra and Suresh Triveni, the film also stars Ravi Kishan in a key role. The technical crew includes cinematographer Anuj Rakesh Dhawan, editor Dipika Kalra, and music director Akashdeep Sengupta.
The film's strengths lie in the performances of its lead actors. Dixit delivers a solid performance as Rekha, portraying both fear and a mother's desperation to protect her family. Dimri steps away from glamour to deliver a restrained and convincing performance, highlighted by an emotional monologue in the second half of the film. Additionally, Dharna Durga provides humor through her character's witty one-liners and expressive reactions.
While the first half of the film moves at a brisk pace, generating entertainment through the frequent arguments and panic among the family members, the momentum slows down in the second half. The narrative begins to stretch without making significant progress, and the climax twists are noted to be fairly predictable. Furthermore, the police investigation track is weakly written, and several scenes lack logical consistency, though the cinematography by Dhawan effectively captures the indoor sequences.
