MA&UD and HYDRAA Seek Corporate CSR Support for Hyderabad Lakes

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department has called upon corporate organisations to partner with the government in developing and rejuvenating lakes across Hyderabad through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.

The call to action was delivered at the CSR Round Table 2.0, an event organised under the aegis of the MA&UD department and the Sports department to strengthen corporate participation in lake restoration.

Speaking at the programme, Special Chief Secretary for MA&UD Jayesh Ranjan and HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath urged corporate organisations to focus their CSR initiatives on supporting smaller lakes in the city.

The officials emphasised that protecting and rejuvenating water bodies is essential for building a sustainable Hyderabad. They noted that the city's lakes play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, meeting future water requirements, and mitigating the impact of urban flooding.

During the event, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath presented a detailed power-point presentation highlighting the lake development works carried out by HYDRAA under its first and second phases.

Ranganath also announced that the government has officially approved the third phase of lake development works, setting the stage for further rejuvenation of water bodies across Hyderabad.

Urging corporate entities and citizens to join hands with government agencies, Ranganath stated that increased corporate involvement through CSR—especially towards smaller lakes—would strengthen environmental conservation while contributing to a sustainable and resilient city.

The CSR partnership initiative seeks to unite the government, the corporate sector, and local citizens in a collective effort to safeguard Hyderabad's lakes and secure the city's environmental and water security for future generations.
