LPG eKYC Deadline Extended to September 7 in Telangana

The deadline for domestic LPG consumers across Telangana to complete their Aadhaar-based biometric authentication has been extended from August 31 to September 7.

The extension was communicated by Indian Oil Corporation, providing clarity to consumers and distributors amid ongoing efforts to ensure subsidised cooking gas reaches only intended households. Distributorships across all three state-run oil marketing companies are also receiving a software update designed to indent non-eKYC stocks.

Telangana LPG Distributors Association president Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that the software patch indicates oil marketing companies are gearing up for potential instructions from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas regarding connections where eKYC remains incomplete. A feature enabling distributors to block non-compliant customers has also been activated.

A senior official from an oil marketing company confirmed the software rollout, noting that the Ministry has not yet issued guidelines on the pricing of refills for consumers who have not completed the biometric verification. Oil companies have continued to urge households to complete the authentication process to remain eligible for domestic rates.

Around 86 percent of the 1.26 crore domestic LPG users have completed their eKYC so far. Officials indicated that many consumers who have not yet submitted their details are suspected of holding multiple gas connections, which is not permitted under the rules.

Authorities noted that eKYC remains a continuous process that has been underway for several months. Consumers who miss the September 7 deadline will still be allowed to complete their biometric authentication later. However, if differential pricing rules come into effect, unverified consumers will not be permitted to draw refills at domestic rates until their authentication is completed and approved.
