LiDAR Survey for Hyderabad Regional Ring Rail Completed, Says Kishan Reddy

Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced on Sunday at Vikarabad railway station that the LiDAR survey for the proposed Regional Ring Rail (RRR) project around Hyderabad has been completed. He stated that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the northern section has been submitted, while the alignment for the southern section is currently being finalised.
Speaking to mediapersons, the Minister noted that the Final Location Survey (FLS) for the rail corridor, planned along the outer periphery of the Regional Ring Road, was sanctioned in 2023 for a stretch of approximately 400 kilometres.
Mr. Kishan Reddy visited the station to review ongoing redevelopment works being executed under the Centre’s Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The ₹24.35-crore project at Vikarabad includes the construction of a 12-metre-wide foot overbridge, platform improvements, station building upgrades, escalators, enhanced parking, and an expanded circulating area to improve passenger accessibility. Station officials were directed to conclude all works by the end of the year.
Vikarabad is among 40 railway stations in Telangana being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a collective cost exceeding ₹2,000 crore. The station handles around 15,000 passengers and 60 trains daily, recording some of the highest rail traffic in the state after Kazipet and Khammam.
Highlighting regional rail expansion, the Minister stated that railway projects worth nearly ₹80,000 crore are currently underway across Telangana, which has attained 100% railway electrification. He mentioned that the Hyderabad-Siddipet-Jagtial rail corridor is under development with services active up to Siddipet, and a rail manufacturing unit at Kazipet is 90% complete ahead of its planned inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Secunderabad Divisional Railway Manager Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan, and other railway officials were present during the review.
