Lakshvir Singh Saran Reflects on Playing Gaurav Dhar in Made in India: A Titan Story

Actor Lakshvir Singh Saran shared details about his experience portraying Gaurav Dhar in the series Made in India: A Titan Story, reflecting on his role preparation, his background in theatre, and his approach to selecting scripts.

Saran explained that joining the project came naturally due to the subject and the ensemble cast, which included Jim Sarbh, Naseeruddin Shah, Kaveri Seth, Joy Sengupta, and Paresh Ganatra. He noted that having grown up seeing the Tata brand expand and owning Titan and Fast Track watches made participating in the company's origin story significant to him.

To portray Gaurav Dhar, who was inspired by one of Titan’s founding members, Saran focused on understanding the personality behind the role. He stated that his primary challenge was capturing Dhar's energy, working from a photograph showing him in a red check shirt with a pen in his pocket and focusing on his smile.

Discussing his preparation methods, Saran noted that he does not follow a single formula. He said he seeks to connect parts of himself to the characters he plays while relying on the script and director for guidance. When reviewing scripts, he focuses on projects that depict unfamiliar worlds or evoke a sense of nervous excitement, provided the writing demonstrates honesty and a deep understanding of the subject.

Saran recounted that he entered acting unexpectedly at age 13 after his mother enrolled him in a children’s theatre workshop while attending a nearby painting class. He continued performing in theatre for six to eight years before transitioning into film and series projects, which have included Milestone, Paatal Lok, The Fame Game, A Wedding Story, and Lukkhe.

Among his memories from the set, Saran highlighted the experience of filming inside the Titan factory. He recalled that production halted at one o’clock sharp each day so that everyone, from the managing director to the factory workers and film crew, could share lunch together in the canteen. The actor declined to disclose details regarding his upcoming projects.
