L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Launches Office Bubbles Coworking Spaces At 57 Stations

L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad has launched 'Office Bubbles', an initiative to set up flexible workspaces and coworking facilities across 57 stations, including the JBS Metro Station in Secunderabad. Developed in partnership with operators like Cohort Coworking, the project aims to establish satellite offices directly within transit hubs to reduce commuting times and urban congestion.

The initiative, which spans all three metro corridors, is part of a larger Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) strategy. This urban planning approach integrates commercial activities with transit infrastructure, allowing commuters to work, shop, and access services at the same location.

Cohort Coworking, founded by Kodidala Sowjanya, is among the key operators participating in the initiative and currently runs a facility at the JBS Metro Station. According to Sowjanya, the model addresses changing workplace preferences by enabling teams from different parts of the city to meet at transit-connected spots rather than traveling to a central office.

The metro-based workspaces offer tenants uninterrupted power supply, security, and standardized facilities. However, occupants must comply with safety regulations and obtain approvals from L&T Metro for any physical modifications.

Golden Life Insurance is one of the companies already operating out of the JBS Metro Station. Vijaya Kumar Achanta, the company’s Center Head, noted that while individual offices have their own benefits, the metro station location offers the best connectivity, plug-and-play infrastructure, and affordable rentals.

Employees working from the JBS facility have reported positive experiences. Pavan, a center manager who commutes to the station from Habsiguda, described the workspace as economical and highly conducive to productivity. Another employee commuting from Secunderabad highlighted the reduction in travel time and traffic stress, though some workers commuting by personal vehicles noted parking constraints.

The 'Office Bubbles' initiative aligns with a broader effort by Hyderabad Metro to convert transit stations into multi-use urban hubs. Other stations across the network already host essential public services, such as a VFS Global visa processing center at the Punjagutta Metro Station and a Passport Seva Kendra at the MGBS Metro Station.
