KTR Vows to Name Narsampet Medical College After Peddi Sudarshan Reddy

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao promised to rename the Narsampet government medical college after former MLA and Telangana activist Peddi Sudarshan Reddy if the party returns to power. Speaking at Sudarshan Reddy’s 10th-day memorial meeting held in Nallabelli, Rama Rao assured the former legislator's family that the party will work to fulfill his development vision for the Narsampet constituency.

Addressing the gathering, Rama Rao highlighted Sudarshan Reddy’s dedication to public service and the Telangana movement. He noted that lakhs of people had braved heavy rain and waited on the streets for nearly 12 hours during the former MLA's final journey, demonstrating the public respect he had earned. He stated that Sudarshan Reddy continued raising public issues until the final phase of his life, including demands for Devadula project water and support for students agitating in Delhi.

Rama Rao recalled key development initiatives secured by Sudarshan Reddy during the previous BRS tenure, including a special Rs 100-crore project for local farmers and a piped gas network for households in Narsampet during the Covid-19 pandemic. Assuring Sudarshan Reddy’s wife, Swapna, and his family of continued support, Rama Rao stated that the BRS would return to power within two years and complete the developmental works envisioned by the late leader.

BRS deputy leader T. Harish Rao also addressed the meeting, sharing emotional memories from his nearly 25-year association with Sudarshan Reddy during the Telangana statehood movement. Recalling their participation in agitations such as the Manukota incident and by-elections in Parakala and Station Ghanpur, Harish Rao described him as a selfless fighter who faced opposition from undivided Andhra Pradesh supporters without fear.

Harish Rao credited Sudarshan Reddy with securing Devadula waters for the Ramappa, Pakhal, and Laknavaram reservoirs, as well as playing a pivotal role in establishing the government medical college in Narsampet despite it not being a district headquarters. Harish Rao also recounted a personal incident where Sudarshan Reddy admitted him to a hospital after he was severely injured during an agitation, saving his life.

The memorial service featured a documentary detailing Sudarshan Reddy's political journey, statehood agitations, and constituency development. The event was attended by Council Opposition Leader S Madhusudhanachari, Council Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash, former Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Satyavathi Rathod, MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, along with family members and BRS party cadres.
