KTR Facilitates Rescue of Warangal Woman Stranded in Muscat

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao has facilitated the rescue and safe return of Mahamuda, a resident of Warangal who was allegedly stranded in Muscat for 25 days after being taken to the Gulf country on a tourist visa under the pretext of job placement. Mahamuda safely returned to India on Tuesday following coordinated efforts involving Rama Rao, the BRS NRI Cell, Muscat police, and the Indian Embassy.

Mahamuda had traveled to Muscat after an agent promised to secure her a work visa and employment. However, upon her arrival, the agent allegedly cheated her, confiscated her mobile phone, and attempted to force her into immoral activities. She was subsequently held in confinement inside a house for nearly a week before she managed to come out and establish contact with her family members.

During her ordeal, Mahamuda reported being threatened with false legal action. She alleged that individuals involved threatened to implicate her in a theft case and send her to prison if she made any attempt to leave or return to India. Furthermore, a sub-agent demanded a payment of Rs 1.13 lakh to release her passport and grant permission for her to travel back home.

After Mahamuda successfully contacted her family, her sister sought assistance by approaching local media channels. The case was subsequently brought to the notice of Balu Kayethi Sircilla, CEO of Balam TV, who reached out to Rama Rao to request immediate intervention for the stranded woman.

Upon learning of the situation, Rama Rao instructed Balu not to worry about the money being demanded by the sub-agent, emphasizing that the primary focus should remain on rescuing Mahamuda and ensuring her safe return to India.

The rescue operation was coordinated on the ground through representatives of the BRS NRI Cell in Muscat. Ahmed, a representative of the cell, monitored the case details and arranged necessary legal assistance for the victim. Following joint efforts involving the BRS NRI Cell, local Muscat police, and officials from the Indian Embassy, Mahamuda was placed under the care of embassy authorities until her return to India on Tuesday.
