KTR Backs Nalsar Students, Urges Authorities to Respect Right to Question

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Saturday extended his support to students of Nalsar in Hyderabad, affirming that young people have a fundamental right to question authority and defend their self-respect in a democratic system.

Speaking to the media, Rama Rao stated that when youth feel their dignity or self-respect has been compromised, it is natural for them to raise their voices and resist. He noted that the Nalsar students had shown courage in standing up for their rights and self-respect.

Rama Rao also thanked Chief Justice of India Surya Kant for recognising the special relationship between students and the judiciary. He emphasised that the voices of students, their rights, and their pursuit of justice must be accorded due respect within a democracy.

Addressing institutional conduct, the BRS leader remarked that it is detrimental to democracy when individuals in positions of power exceed the limits of their authority. He called on all institutions to operate impartially and ensure there is no scope for the misuse of power.

Rama Rao added that concerned officials and institutional authorities must take appropriate precautions to ensure such incidents do not recur. He stressed that rather than attempting to suppress students when questions are raised, those in power hold a responsibility to address and answer them directly.
