KT Rama Rao Sends Defamation Notice to Deccan Chronicle Over Hussain Sagar Article

On 8 July 2026, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao served a legal defamation notice to the management of the Deccan Chronicle newspaper over a front-page report concerning building permissions near Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad. The legal notice demands the immediate removal of the article and an unconditional public apology within 48 hours.
The notice, sent through Rama Rao's legal counsel PV Janani & Associates, targets a front-page article published on July 8 titled “KTR’s ‘Landlord’ Builds Tower in Hussainsagar”. The BRS leader accused the publication of attempting to damage his reputation through defamatory content.
According to the legal notice, the newspaper report falsely linked building permissions granted to a private developer near Hussain Sagar with Rama Rao’s farmhouse in Janwada. The article also alleged that Rama Rao misused his official position during his tenure as a Minister in the previous BRS government.
Rama Rao’s legal team strongly refuted these claims, asserting that the BRS working president has absolutely no connection with the private project, its developer, or the building permissions in question. The legal counsel accused the newspaper of making baseless allegations without providing any supporting evidence.
Furthermore, the notice pointed out that the Deccan Chronicle published the report without seeking Rama Rao’s version of the story, which his legal team stated was a direct violation of basic journalistic standards.
The legal notice warns that if the newspaper management fails to comply with the demands to take down the report and all related digital content, they will face legal action. This includes the initiation of both civil and criminal proceedings, alongside claims for damages.
