KT Rama Rao predicts BRS would win 78 seats in Telangana if elections were held now

On Thursday, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao predicted that his party would win around 78 Assembly seats and return to power if elections were held immediately, claiming that the ruling Congress government is facing rapid decline. Rama Rao made these assertions during a special review meeting with BRS legislators and Greater Hyderabad leaders at former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav’s residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

According to Rama Rao, an internal survey commissioned by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy concluded that the Congress was facing strong anti-incumbency midway through its term. He stated that similar findings had emerged from surveys conducted by two media organisations, as well as feedback gathered by Central and State intelligence agencies.

Rama Rao said the surveys reflected a growing public preference for BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao to return as Chief Minister. He accused the Congress of attempting to divert public attention from its failures by targeting the previous BRS government over issues such as the Kaleshwaram project and the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He claimed the Congress had failed to fulfil its Six Guarantees, declarations, and around 420 promises made to the public.

During the meeting, Rama Rao also directed party leaders to closely monitor the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, particularly within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. He noted that the exercise was progressing slowly due to inadequate training of Booth Level Officers, leading to voter inconvenience.

Recalling the alleged detection of duplicate and fake votes during the recent Jubilee Hills by-election, Rama Rao urged party functionaries and Booth Level Agents to remain vigilant. He alleged there could be attempts to register duplicate voters or shift voters into constituencies where the Congress and BJP are politically influential. He added that the BRS would continue to bring these issues to the notice of the Election Commission.
