KT Rama Rao Condemns Overnight Removal of Peddi Sudarshan Reddy Statue in Narsampet

HYDERABAD — Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday condemned the overnight removal of the statue of Telangana activist and former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy in Narsampet, calling the Congress government's action barbaric.

Rama Rao stated that upon returning to power, the BRS government would name the government medical college in Narsampet after the former legislator and install his statue to honour his contributions to the Telangana statehood movement.

Reacting to the incident, Rama Rao alleged that the Congress administration used the police force to remove the statue from a private property overnight in an effort to please Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He questioned the necessity of taking down the statue and urged police personnel not to act at the behest of ruling party leaders or become caught in political disputes, reminding them that political power is not permanent.

The BRS working president also strongly criticised the arrests and house arrests of BRS leaders and activists across the erstwhile Warangal district following protests against the statue’s removal.

Among those detained by authorities were Legislative Council Opposition leader S Madhusudhanachari, former government chief whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, former MLA Nannapuneni Narender, and several other senior party figures.

Demanding the immediate and unconditional release of all detained leaders and workers, Rama Rao warned that the party would not tolerate the filing of illegal cases. He described the suppression of democratic protests as unacceptable, called on the state government to immediately withdraw its actions, and appealed to authorities not to cause further distress to Sudarshan Reddy’s family.
