KT Rama Rao Challenges Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to Public Debate in Ashok Nagar

On Wednesday, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao challenged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to a public debate on the Congress government's governance, state finances, the agrarian crisis, and the implementation of poll promises. Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Rama Rao proposed holding the debate either in Ashok Nagar, Hyderabad, where Congress had promised jobs to unemployed youth, or in Warangal.
The challenge came in response to Revanth Reddy's reported offer for a discussion on governance. Rama Rao stated that he is prepared to debate the government's performance on any public issue, challenging the Chief Minister to decide the venue, subject, and time for the event.
Rama Rao put his political career on the line during the press conference. He announced that if he fails to expose the failures of the Congress government with official data during the debate, he will resign on the spot and retire from politics.
The BRS working president suggested Warangal because it was the location where the Congress party unveiled its farmers' declaration ahead of the assembly elections. He suggested Ashok Nagar as the alternative venue due to the Congress's prior job promises to unemployed youth there.
During the press conference, Rama Rao also criticized Revanth Reddy's rhetoric regarding the financial status of Telangana. He accused the Chief Minister of tarnishing the state's image by repeatedly describing Telangana as a "bankrupt state." According to Rama Rao, no chief minister who cared for the state's interests would publicly portray it as bankrupt.
To counter the Congress government's claims on Telangana's finances, Rama Rao cited official figures from the central government. He stated that the Centre had officially informed Parliament that Telangana’s outstanding debt stood at around Rs 2.7 lakh crore, rejecting the state government's claims.
