KT Rama Rao Arrives in Kuala Lumpur for Telangana Formation Day Celebrations

Grand preparations have been completed for the Telangana Formation Day celebrations scheduled to take place at the MECC Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on June 6, 2026. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao has already arrived in the Malaysian capital to attend the major event as the chief guest, drawing a large gathering of Telangana NRIs, Telugu associations, and community leaders.

On Friday, BRS NRI global coordinator Mahesh Bigala, alongside representatives from the BRS Malaysia chapter and the Malaysia Telangana Association (MYTA), reviewed the final arrangements at the convention centre. Organisers stated that the event is designed to showcase Telangana's rich cultural heritage and foster stronger unity among the Indian diaspora living abroad.

Upon his arrival in Kuala Lumpur, Rama Rao received a warm welcome from members of the Telangana diaspora, BRS supporters, and various Telugu associations, generating considerable enthusiasm among the expatriate community.

The Malaysia Telugu Academy, one of the oldest Telugu organisations in the country, extended a special invitation to the BRS leader. Established in 1955, the Academy represents the cultural heritage of nearly five lakh Telugu people who have lived in Malaysia for several generations.

Mahesh Bigala noted that the event is being organised on the lines of last year's Telangana Formation Day celebrations held in Dallas, Texas. He emphasized that the gathering aims to further strengthen ties among Telangana-origin communities across the globe.

A diverse crowd of attendees is expected, including Telugu families, supporters of the Telangana statehood movement, and community leaders from across Malaysia. Additionally, a large number of Telangana NRIs and Telugu community members from neighbouring countries, including Singapore and Australia, are expected to attend.

Several senior BRS leaders, including former Ministers and former MLAs, along with various cultural artistes, have already reached Malaysia for the celebrations.

The event is being organised jointly by BRS USA and MYTA, with active support from several Indian community organisations. These include the Telugu Expats Association of Malaysia, Malaysia Andhra Association, Malaysia Telugu Foundation, Telugu Association of Malaysia, Tamil Expats Association of Malaysia, Kannada Association of Malaysia, Punjabi Association of Malaysia, Odisha Association of Malaysia, and the Bharatiya Association of Malaysia.

Bigala expressed confidence that the celebrations would emerge as a landmark event reflecting Telangana’s cultural identity and the solidarity of the global Indian diaspora.
