Kondapur Building Collapse Forces 15 Families to Vacate in Anjiahnagar

A seven-storey under-construction building collapsed in Anjiahnagar, Kondapur on Saturday, triggering panic and forcing approximately 15 families residing in neighbouring apartment blocks to vacate their homes.

Officials initiated safety assessments of surrounding structures following the collapse, which sent thick clouds of dust across the neighbourhood and caused immediate alarm among nearby residents.

Neighbours recounted harrowing moments as the multi-storey structure came crashing down within seconds. Jaywant and Neelima Mudliar, who live on the fifth floor of C Block in an adjoining apartment complex, were resting at home when the incident occurred.

Neelima Mudliar noted that her husband, who typically rests in the bedroom during the afternoon, happened to be in the hall at the time of the collapse. The family, including their two children aged 15 and 10, had moved into the apartment about three months ago. She stated that none of her family members sustained serious injuries, adding that they had performed Varalakshmi Puja at their residence the previous day.

Another resident, 18-year-old Sahasra Dabbara, described the sudden collapse as feeling like an earthquake. She recounted rushing downstairs immediately after the structure fell in a fraction of a second, finding the area engulfed in a massive cloud of dust.

Authorities evacuated around 15 families from the immediate vicinity while structural engineers and officials conducted inspections to assess the safety of the adjoining residential buildings.
