KBR Park Traffic Diversions Boost Hyderabad Metro Ridership to 4.85 Lakh

One-way traffic restrictions introduced around KBR Park in Hyderabad have led to increased travel times and altered bus stops for TGSRTC commuters, prompting a surge in Hyderabad Metro Rail ridership over the past two days.

The diversions, implemented as part of ongoing H-City development works, made traffic flow smoother on day two compared to the initial rollout, but bus passengers continued to experience significant delays. Officials reported that Hyderabad Metro Rail ridership reached between 4.75 lakh and 4.85 lakh passengers across all three corridors during the two-day period, with the heaviest demand recorded on the route between Ameerpet and Raidurg stations.

TGSRTC adjusted its operating routes around KBR Park to accommodate the one-way system, but passengers faced extended travel times and differing stop locations on their onward and return trips. Some commuters noted that navigating the roundabout added 20 to 30 minutes to their daily journeys, leading many to switch to the Metro network.

Personal vehicle users and bus riders traveling across the city reported altering their commute patterns to bypass the congested corridors. Commuters traveling from areas such as Padmaraonagar, Hayatnagar, and Lal Darwaza to destinations including Kondapur and Film Nagar reported having to reconfigure their daily routes or spend multiple hours in transit.

Several commuters also called on the state road transport corporation to increase its fleet size along key routes connecting to western Hyderabad to address the delays caused by the revised traffic flow.
