Kavvampally Satyanarayana Calls for Dalit Unity at Adilabad Meeting

Manakondur MLA and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee SC-cell chairman Kavvampally Satyanarayana called on the Dalit community to unite and protect their constitutional rights during a meeting in Adilabad on Monday. Addressing attendees as the chief guest, Satyanarayana stressed that unity is essential to counter attempts by rulers to divide the community.

Satyanarayana urged Dalits to raise their voices against communal forces and atrocities committed against Dalit women. He noted that the Dalit population is substantial and emphasized the need for the community to demonstrate its collective strength to safeguard its reservation rights and protect the Indian Constitution.

During his address, the MLA praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for providing a permanent solution to the long-pending Mala and Madiga categorization issue. In contrast, he criticized former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, stating that he cheated Dalits by failing to fulfill his promise of making a Dalit the first chief minister of Telangana.

Satyanarayana highlighted the Congress party's history of appointing Dalit leaders to major roles, pointing to Damodaram Sajeevaiah becoming chief minister and K.R. Narayanan serving as the nation's President. He added that the current Congress government in Telangana has provided top leadership positions—including deputy chief minister, cabinet ministers, and Speaker—to five Dalit leaders. He also stated that Dalits have benefited directly from state programs such as free power up to 200 units, free RTC bus travel, and the distribution of fine quality rice.

All India Congress Committee national coordinator for the SC department and Telangana incharge Siddarth Hithambre also spoke at the event. He urged Dalits to emerge as a strong political force and support the Congress party to ensure a life of dignity, calling on them to take advantage of state welfare schemes.

The meeting was attended by Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju, Adilabad DCC president Naresh Jadhav, Jilla Grandhalaya Samasta chairman Mallepual Narsaiah, Adilabad SC department president Parameshwar Koletkar, and Boath market committee chairman Satyanarayana. Other attendees included former DCC chairman Sajid Khan, party Boath incharge Ade Gajender, Asifabad incharge Shyam Naik, and former Adilabad Market committee chairman Sanjeev Reddy.
