Kavitha Forms 7-Member Committee to Study Telangana Polytechnic Education Issues

HYDERABAD — Telangana Rakshana Sena chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha announced on Tuesday the formation of a seven-member committee comprising educationists and party leaders to study the continuation and necessity of polytechnic education across Telangana.

The development comes amid widespread unrest and panic among students following the Congress government's issuance of Government Order (GO) 97, which places polytechnic education under the purview of the Skill University.

Students across the state have taken to the streets in various forms of protest, demanding the immediate revocation of GO 97. The demonstrators have urged the state government not to transfer polytechnic education under the scope of SHAKTI, which operates under the Department of Labour and Employment.

Protesting students have voiced deep anxiety regarding the future of their careers, particularly over potential risks if private promoters decide to pull out of the Skill University initiative.

Addressing these escalating student concerns, Kavitha stated that the newly formed study committee has been tasked with examining three critical areas. The panel will look into preserving polytechnic education in its current format, analyzing the adverse impacts of GO 97, and evaluating the potential fallout of shifting polytechnic education under the Department of Labour and Employment's SHAKTI framework.
