Kachiguda Techie Arrested for Abusive Comments on Woman's Instagram Video

The Hyderabad Cyber Crime police have arrested a 30-year-old software employee from Kachiguda for allegedly operating a fake Instagram account and posting abusive, defamatory, and sexually explicit comments targeting a woman.

According to the police, the suspect created a fraudulent Instagram profile and, in October 2025, posted objectionable comments on a video featuring the complainant. The video had originally been uploaded by the "Pura Local" Instagram channel and was subsequently circulated on social media.

Investigators said the comments were posted with the intention of defaming the woman, damaging her reputation, and outraging her modesty. Following a complaint, a case was registered under Sections 66(D) and 67 of the Information Technology Act, as well as Sections 79 and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Cyber Crime officials stated that the suspect used an anonymous social media profile in an attempt to conceal his identity while disseminating offensive and defamatory content online. During the investigation, police traced the digital trail and apprehended him in Hyderabad.

Police seized a mobile phone from the suspect, which is currently being examined as part of the ongoing probe.
