K Chandrashekhar Rao Shares Muharram Message of Harmony and Sacrifice in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD — Former Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K Chandrashekhar Rao issued a message on Thursday, June 25, 2026, in Hyderabad, characterizing Muharram as a symbol of righteousness, truth, and sacrifice.

In his official message released on the occasion, Chandrashekhar Rao observed that members of the Muslim community observe Muharram in remembrance of these enduring values. He emphasized the cultural and spiritual significance of the occasion for the people of the state.

The BRS president specifically highlighted Telangana’s traditional ‘Peerla Panduga’ festival. He stated that the people of Telangana celebrate this occasion in a deep spirit of brotherhood that transcends caste and religious barriers, bringing diverse groups together.

Chandrashekhar Rao noted that the festival is marked across various villages and cities with traditional rituals, including fire-walking. He observed that these practices reflect the state’s composite culture, known as Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, and stand as a prominent symbol of communal harmony.

Reflecting on his administration's tenure, the former Chief Minister stated that the previous BRS government had actively upheld secular values over the past decade. He noted that his government had successfully implemented several initiatives aimed directly at the welfare and empowerment of the Muslim community.

In concluding his message, Chandrashekhar Rao offered prayers for the well-being and prosperity of all sections of society. He also reiterated the BRS party’s continued commitment to safeguarding the interests and welfare of minority communities across Telangana.
