Junior Lecturers Urge CM Revanth Reddy to Expand College Meal Scheme

HYDERABAD — The Telangana Gazetted Junior Lecturers Association on June 28, 2026, submitted an online representation to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy demanding the immediate extension of the student breakfast and mid-day meal scheme to all government junior colleges across the state.
The association's representation, led by President Dr. Vasukula Srinivas and General Secretary Dr. Koppishetti Suresh, highlighted that the meal program is currently limited to a small scale. They urged the government to scale up the initiative to cover all government junior colleges.
According to the association, nearly a month has passed since the commencement of the fresh academic year. Despite this, the breakfast and mid-day meal scheme is only being implemented in a few select colleges on a pilot basis. The association emphasized the need for a comprehensive rollout to ensure all students enrolled in government junior colleges can access these meals.
Beyond the student meal schemes, the representation also addressed several long-pending administrative grievances faced by junior lecturers in the state.
A major concern raised by the association is the delay in resolving issues for the 2023 batch of junior lecturers. The association demanded that the state government immediately declare the probation and implement the pending career increments for this batch.
The association pointed out that the High Court had previously delivered a favourable verdict regarding these increments and probation declarations. However, despite the court's ruling, the Intermediate Education department has not yet taken up the process of giving increments or declaring probation for the 2023 batch of junior lecturers.
In addition to these administrative and financial issues, the association called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the state government to address critical infrastructure needs. They requested immediate intervention to resolve ongoing issues regarding the development and physical improvement of government junior colleges across Telangana.
