Job Aspirants Protest in Dilsukhnagar Demanding 20,000 Police Vacancies

A tense atmosphere prevailed once again in the locality of Dilsukhnagar on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, as a large number of unemployed youth and government job aspirants launched a massive flash protest. The demonstrators gathered at the Dilsukhnagar crossroads in Hyderabad to demand that the government announce 20,000 police vacancies in its upcoming recruitment drive instead of the proposed 5,000 vacancies.

Beating drums, the protesters who gathered at the crossroads raised loud slogans against the government and expressed their deep frustration. They voiced their anger over the government’s proposed plans to announce only limited police job vacancies for recruitment.

According to the protesters, the government currently plans to issue recruitment notifications for only 5,000 vacancies in the Police department. However, they pointed out that there are actually 20,000 vacancies currently available in the department. The aspirants demanded that the government notify a mega recruitment drive with a total of 20,000 vacancies, emphasizing that thousands of job aspirants have spent several years of their lives preparing specifically for these police jobs.

The traffic movement in the area took a major hit as the large number of unemployed youth staged a sit-in protest directly on the Dilsukhnagar main road. In response to the growing disruption on the busy road, police forces quickly swung into action to disperse the protesting crowd.

Arguments and physical scuffles quickly ensued when the police allegedly used force to bring the situation under control. Several of the protesting youth were reportedly dragged into police vans by the personnel and shifted to various police stations in the city.

For the past several days, the unemployed youth have been holding a continuous series of protests, demanding an enhancement in police job vacancies. In addition to the police recruitment, the aspirants are also demanding the immediate issuance of other government job recruitment notifications.
