JNTU Hyderabad Announces Grace Marks For R22 Regulation Students

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad has officially announced the provision of grace marks for undergraduate, MBA, and MCA students admitted under the R22 academic regulations. The decision, which was published on July 3, 2026, comes as a major relief to the student community.
The university's decision was based on the recommendations of a special committee that met on June 16, 2026. The newly announced grace marks will amount to 0.15 percent of the total maximum marks of all semesters in the student's program.
This policy aligns with the long-standing practice that the university has followed for almost all previous academic regulations, with the sole exception of the R18 academic regulations.
To be eligible for the grace marks, students must meet specific academic criteria. The benefit is applicable to students who have completed all four years of their study and have appeared for all of their semester-end examinations.
Furthermore, the grace marks are designed for students who have successfully passed all of their courses except for one, two, or three courses. The addition of these grace marks must be sufficient to enable the student to acquire the required credits necessary for the award of their provisional degree certificate.
The university order also clarified that there is no bar on allocating the maximum available grace marks to any single course.
The Students Protection Forum (SPF), which had consistently raised this issue with the university authorities, welcomed the announcement. Rahul Naik, the president of the SPF, stated that this decision would provide immense relief to thousands of engineering and pharmacy students by safeguarding their academic future.
