ISKCON Hyderabad to mark 50 years of Abids temple with four-day celebration

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Hyderabad has announced grand Golden Jubilee celebrations for the Radha Madanmohan Mandir in Abids, located near the Nampally Railway Station road, to mark its 50th anniversary. The four-day event is scheduled to take place from August 15 to 18, 2026, featuring extensive religious rituals, cultural programmes, and the distribution of over five lakh plates of prasadam.
According to Raghavendra Yadav, a member of the ISKCON Hyderabad management, the temple was established in 1976. It was originally inaugurated by ISKCON Founder Srila Prabhupada and the former Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, Jalagam Vengala Rao. Over the past five decades, the temple has grown into a noted spiritual centre and a popular destination for both regular devotees and tourists in Hyderabad.
The temple houses the deities of Gaura-Nitai, Jagannatha, Baladeva, Subhadra, and Radha Madana-Mohana. The ISKCON management conducts daily pujas, aartis, and various spiritual offerings at the temple, where hundreds of devotees regularly participate in the meticulously organised rituals.
To celebrate the 50-year milestone, the organisers have planned specific spiritual ceremonies for each day of the festival. The celebrations will begin with a Sudarshan Yagna on August 15, followed by a Pushpa Abhishek on August 16. A Chappan Bhoga ceremony is scheduled for August 17, and the rituals will conclude with a Maha Abhishek on August 18. Renowned spiritual leaders will also deliver discourses during the four-day event.
In addition to the temple rituals, grand evening celebrations will be held at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. These evening events will feature a sand art presentation depicting the journey of the temple in Hyderabad, a commemorative film, a dance drama, a coffee table book launch, and a vision presentation titled "What's Next After 50?".
The golden jubilee celebrations will also include a Shobha Yatra, cultural performances, and bhajan sandhyas. The temple management will use the occasion to honour individuals who have contributed to the growth of the temple over the years. Entry to all the events is free for the public.
