IOA Unveils Official Kit and Sends Off 124-Member Indian Contingent for Glasgow Games

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Tuesday hosted a grand send-off ceremony in New Delhi for India’s 124-member contingent heading to the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. During the event, the IOA also unveiled the official ceremonial and competition kit that Team India will wear during the Games, which are scheduled to run from July 23 to August 2.

The ceremony brought together athletes, coaches, support staff, and dignitaries. Key attendees included Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports; Dr. PT Usha, President of the IOA; Her Excellency Lindy Cameron, British High Commissioner to India; and Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Textiles. They were joined by Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary of the Department of Sports, alongside Chef de Mission Rohit Rajpal and Deputy Chef de Mission Ravi Bengani.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mandaviya encouraged the athletes to compete fearlessly and uphold sportsmanship, stating that the government stands firmly behind them. IOA President Dr. PT Usha remarked that the athletes carry the hopes of a billion Indians, praising their years of hard work and sacrifice.

British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron extended her wishes to the team, noting the deep sporting ties between the UK and India. She also mentioned that India is already preparing to welcome the Commonwealth sporting community to Ahmedabad for the centenary Games in 2030.

The official team kit, designed by acclaimed designer Aaquib Wani and developed by JSW Sports, is inspired by the concept of "Invisible Trajectories." Parth Jindal, Founder of JSW Sports, described the jersey as "armour" designed with the athlete at the core.

The 124-member Indian contingent features both able-bodied and para-athletes. The team will compete across 10 disciplines in Glasgow, including athletics, boxing, weightlifting, judo, gymnastics, cycling, lawn bowls, and swimming, alongside para-athletics, para-wheelchair basketball, para-powerlifting, para-swimming, and para-track cycling.

The campaign is backed by major corporate partners, including Reliance Foundation Sports, Yes Bank, JSW Inspire, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Adani Sportsline as Principal Sponsors, and Amul as the Associate Sponsor. Chef de Mission Rohit Rajpal and Deputy Chef de Mission Ravi Bengani will oversee the operations in Scotland.
