INTUC President G. Sanjeeva Reddy Calls For Rejection Of Four Labour Codes

At the 316th Working Committee meeting of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) held in Bengaluru, All India INTUC president G. Sanjeeva Reddy called for the outright rejection of four proposed Labour Codes. Speaking to the committee members and attendees, Reddy described the codes as "inhuman, unlawful and anti-constitutional," warning that their implementation would threaten the fundamental rights, dignity, and security of workers.
Sanjeeva Reddy stated that the time had come for the working class to stand up and defend the rights and legal protections they had secured over the years. He warned that the implementation of these new Labour Codes would adversely affect workers across various sectors, undermining their livelihood and safety.
The meeting was also addressed by chief guest D.K. Shivakumar, who spoke on the importance of protecting the nation's workforce. Shivakumar declared that farmers, soldiers, workers, and teachers constitute the four pillars of a progressive democracy and a prosperous nation.
"A farmer feeds the country, a soldier protects it, a worker builds the economy and a teacher shapes future generations," Shivakumar said. He emphasized that society could neither progress nor sustain itself unless these key groups received the respect, protection, and support they deserved from the government and the public.
The 316th Working Committee meeting concluded with a joint pledge by all the participants in attendance. The union members vowed to remain united in their fight against policies that they argued weaken labour rights, democracy, and social justice. The participants resolved to continue their struggle against the four Labour Codes, asserting that they would stand together to protect the dignity and security of the working class.
