Inspectors Find Reused Oil and Spoiled Food at Gachibowli Mandi Restaurants

Food safety inspectors issued improvement notices to Mandi King and Wah Mandi, two mandi restaurants in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on Saturday after identifying multiple hygiene and food safety violations. The inspections, which were conducted as part of ongoing food safety drives in Cyberabad, uncovered serious lapses including the reuse of cooking oil and the storage of spoiled food.
At Mandi King, the inspection team uncovered several critical issues in the kitchen area. Food safety officials found that raw and cooked non-vegetarian food items were being stored together without proper separation. Additionally, the restaurant was found to be reusing cooking oil for several days.
The inspectors also noted an unclean exhaust system and generally poor kitchen conditions inside Mandi King. Following these discoveries, the reused cooking oil was discarded on the spot by the officials. An improvement notice was issued to the establishment after it scored just 56 out of 108, representing a 52 percent rating in its hygiene assessment.
Similar food safety violations were detected during the inspection of Wah Mandi. At this outlet, officials found stale and spoiled food items, including cooked mandi, boiled eggs, and chicken wings. All of these spoiled food items were immediately discarded on the spot to prevent them from being served to customers.
Wah Mandi also failed to meet several other food safety standards. The inspection team noted a complete lack of segregation between vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. Furthermore, the restaurant lacked required medical fitness certificates for its staff, water testing reports, and adequate sanitation facilities.
Due to these lapses, Wah Mandi received a low hygiene score of 61 out of 100, or 61 percent. Food safety officials stated that they have instructed both establishments to implement corrective measures immediately. These inspections are part of a broader, ongoing effort to enforce health and sanitation standards across food establishments in the region.
