Indian Women Win Three Wrestling Golds At Under-15 Asian Championships In Hyderabad

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Indian women wrestlers delivered a dominant performance in Hyderabad, clinching three gold medals and securing a perfect podium record on the second day of the Under-15 Asian Wrestling Championships. The Indian contingent captured a total of eight medals across all eight of the day's medal bouts, while the country's Under-15 Greco-Roman team secured a third-place overall finish in the tournament standings.

Samruddhi Satish Patil, Vinakshi, and Disha Shokeen won gold medals in their respective weight categories to headline the day for India.

In the 66kg final, Shokeen was clinical, registering an emphatic 11-0 victory by technical superiority over Japan’s Nowa Doike. In the 33kg title clash, Patil defeated Uzbekistan’s Madina Nosirova with an 8-2 scoreline. Vinakshi then overcame another Uzbek wrestler, Muslima Hojimamatova, 7-4 to secure the 46kg gold medal.

Two Indian wrestlers settled for silver medals after losing to Japanese opponents in their final matches. Divya Rani lost 2-6 to Sara Kori in the 36kg final, while Dnyaneshwari Vrusheshwar Shinde suffered a narrow 7-9 defeat against Ramu Sugibayashi in the 42kg category.

India also swept all three of their bronze-medal playoffs on Sunday. Nisha Mor won by fall with an 8-0 victory over Chinese Taipei’s Lo I Huang in the 54kg category. In the 58kg class, Dipanshi defeated Mongolia’s Anudari Bayanmunkh 6-1. Anjali Santosh Vetal wrapped up the bronze medal matches in the 62kg category by outclassing Mongolia’s Khongorzul Lkhagva Ochir 15-2 through technical superiority.

Meanwhile, the Indian Under-15 Greco-Roman team finished third in the overall standings with 150 points, building on their opening-day performances. Uzbekistan claimed the top spot in the team standings with 171 points, followed by Kazakhstan in second place with 167 points.
