Indian Para-Cyclists Win 12 Medals at UCI Track Event in Denmark

HYDERABAD — Indian para-cyclists delivered an impressive performance at the UCI Para Cycling Track Event in Odense, Denmark, securing a total of 12 medals across various track cycling disciplines. The medal tally for the team included two gold medals, five silver medals, and five bronze medals during the three-day competition.

Leading the Indian contingent was Paralympian para-cyclist Arshad Shaikh, hailing from Andhra Pradesh. Shaikh accounted for half of the team's total medal haul by winning six medals in various para track cycling events. His performance yielded two gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal.

Young athletes also contributed significantly to India's success at the event. Seventeen-year-old Vishwa Vasani from Gujarat continued to build her international record by securing four bronze medals. Vasani competed and won bronze medals in four specific track events: the 1km Individual Time Trial, the Scratch Race, the 200m Sprint, and the Elimination Race.

In addition, 16-year-old Anshuman Dhumal achieved international success by winning two silver medals in his events.

The three-day competition highlighted the performance and consistency of the athletes across a demanding track event schedule, reflecting the growing strength of India's para-cycling talent on the international stage.
