India Post Opens Recruitment for 23,757 GDS Posts Including 419 in Telangana

The Department of Posts opened the One-Time Registration process on August 31, 2026, for the recruitment of 23,757 Gramin Dak Sevak posts across the country, including 419 vacancies in the Telangana circle.

The recruitment drive covers positions for Branch Postmaster, Assistant Branch Postmaster, and Dak Sevak. Eligible candidates can complete the One-Time Registration until 5 PM on September 19, 2026.

The window for online applications and fee payments will be open from September 2 to September 21, 2026, closing at 5 PM. A correction window will subsequently be available on September 23 and 24, 2026, up to 5 PM. Incomplete applications or fee submissions made after the specified deadlines will not be accepted.

According to the official notification, shortlisting of candidates will be carried out through a system-generated merit list based on Class 10 marks.

Across the country, the North Eastern circle has the highest number of vacancies at 2,614, followed by Maharashtra with 2,431, Tamil Nadu with 2,118, West Bengal with 1,762, and Uttar Pradesh with 1,691. Delhi registered the fewest openings with 16 posts. Neighboring Andhra Pradesh has 917 vacancies, while Karnataka has 1,116 posts.
