India and West Indies Fined for Slow Over-Rates in Final ODI in New Chandigarh

India and the West Indies have been fined portions of their match fees for maintaining slow over-rates during the final One-Day International of their three-match series played in New Chandigarh on Saturday.
India were fined 20 per cent of their match fee after being ruled four overs short, while the West Indies received a 10 per cent fine after falling two overs short once time allowances were taken into consideration.
Prakash Bhatt of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanctions on both teams following the match.
The penalties were applied under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which governs minimum over-rate offences. Under this regulation, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their team fails to bowl within the allotted time.
Both captains pleaded guilty to the charges and accepted the proposed sanctions, which meant formal hearings were not required.
The charges were officially levelled by on-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Sam Nogajski, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, and fourth umpire Virender Sharma.
