IMD Issues Yellow Alert With Rains And Gusty Winds Forecast For Hyderabad

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has officially issued a yellow alert for the state of Telangana, forecasting moderate rains, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to lash the state capital on Thursday evening and night. Alongside the immediate forecast for the capital city, the weather agency has also warned of heavy rainfall in isolated pockets of several other districts scheduled for June 25 and June 26.
In Hyderabad, skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy during the daytime hours on Thursday, preceding the anticipated wet weather. The IMD expects moderate rainfall to begin lashing the city during the evening and night. These showers are likely to be accompanied by active thunderstorms and strong, gusty winds.
Regarding temperatures, the meteorological department has projected that the maximum temperature in Hyderabad will hover around 34 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius during the day.
On a broader scale across the state, the yellow alert issued by the IMD spans June 25 and June 26. Under this alert, there is a specific warning for heavy rainfall at isolated places in four specific districts: Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Suryapet.
In addition to the heavy rain warnings, the IMD has warned that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places across multiple other districts in Telangana.
These weather conditions are expected to affect several northern and eastern districts, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, and Peddapalli.
The weather warning also extends to central and southern parts of the state, covering Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, and Siddipet districts.
Finally, the IMD has included Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts in its warning list, advising residents in these areas to prepare for potential thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds over the forecast period.
