IMD Issues Heavy Rain Warning for Hyderabad and Telangana Districts From June 23

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Telangana from June 23 to 28, 2026, signaling the revival of the southwest monsoon across the state. Several districts, including Hyderabad, are expected to experience heavy showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, leading to a notable drop in temperatures.
According to the meteorological department's official forecast issued on June 21, 2026, the weather pattern indicates a significant transition. For June 23 and 24, a heavy rainfall warning of 64.5 mm to 115.6 mm has been put in place for Adilabad, KomuramBheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Medak, and Kamareddy districts.
On June 25, the heavy rainfall warning is set to expand to several other key areas. These include Jagtial, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, and Sangareddy districts.
From June 26 to 28, the IMD has issued a general heavy rainfall warning across the entirety of Telangana. Weather officials stated that heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the state. These downpours are expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph.
In addition to the precipitation, the weather forecast predicts a gradual decrease in maximum temperatures by 2 degrees Celsius to 5 degrees Celsius over the five-day period. Daytime temperatures across the districts are expected to range between 36 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius.
The department also issued a severe thunderstorm warning with lightning and gusty winds for Monday. This warning covers a wide range of districts, including Adilabad, KomuramBheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
