IMAX Premium Theater Format Officially Confirmed to Return to Hyderabad

The premium IMAX theater format is officially returning to Hyderabad, with the new screen set to be established at AMB Classic Sudarshan. The major development was officially confirmed on June 1, 2026, promising a significant upgrade to the city's big-screen cinema-going experience.
Jyesth Narang, the Executive Director of the Asian Group, confirmed the official introduction of the premium large-format screen at the AMB Classic Sudarshan venue. This official announcement follows a hint dropped by Suniel Narang, the head of the Asian Cinema Group, during an interview conducted three days prior to the confirmation.
Hyderabad has a long-standing relationship with the film industry and is frequently referred to as the cinema capital of South India due to its tryst with Tollywood. While the city is home to numerous iconic single-screen theaters and top-class multiplexes that offer premium viewing experiences, local movie enthusiasts and cinephiles have long felt that a dedicated, large-format IMAX screen was the only major element missing from the local exhibition landscape.
The official confirmation brings clarity to a project that previously faced public doubts and debates among movie enthusiasts. In June 2025, IMAX Corporation had officially denied having any partnership with Asian Cinemas to launch an IMAX screen in the city. That denial from the corporation came after Suniel Narang had initially mentioned the prospect of the launch during a promotional interview for an upcoming film.
With the official announcement now finalized and delivered by the Asian Group's leadership, the premium format is set to make its return. The introduction of this premium format at the AMB Classic Sudarshan venue represents a major milestone for the Asian Group. The upgrade is expected to resolve past disappointments and finally deliver the high-quality cinematic experience that local audiences have been waiting for.
