IIIT Hyderabad Graduates 526 Students at Its 25th Convocation Ceremony

A total of 526 students graduated during the 25th convocation ceremony of the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) on Saturday. Addressing the graduating batch virtually, Prof Ajay Kumar Sood, the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, urged the students to focus on responsible innovation and use technology to solve real-world problems.
During his virtual address, Prof Sood emphasized that the next generation of technologists must become custodians of responsible innovation. He stated that the graduating students should focus not just on innovation itself, but also on ensuring that its benefits reach every section of society.
Prof Ashok Jhunjhunwala, the Chairman of the IIIT-H governing council, also addressed the ceremony. He revealed that nearly one-third of the graduating students this year were women. He described IIIT-H as a research-driven institution that is deeply committed to developing technologies that address real-world challenges.
The graduating batch of 526 students represented a wide range of academic disciplines. This year's graduates included 166 undergraduate students, 303 postgraduate students, and 57 MSIT students.
A detailed breakdown of the degrees awarded during the ceremony showed that the batch comprised 95 BTech, 71 BTech (Honours), 101 dual-degree, 47 MS by Research, 137 MTech, 18 PhD, and 57 MSIT graduates.
The milestone ceremony also highlighted the rapid growth of IIIT-H since its inception. At its first convocation ceremony held in 2002, the institute saw only 49 students graduate. Today, IIIT-H has grown significantly, boasting a student body of 2,524 students and a faculty strength of 114 members. The institution's alumni network has also expanded to include more than 8,200 graduates.
