ICSI Inaugurates Rs 10-Crore Chapter Office Building in Hyderabad

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has inaugurated its new Chapter Office in Hyderabad, establishing a dedicated five-storey facility built with an investment of Rs 10 crore. Inaugurated on August 23, the 10,200-square-foot building provides upgraded infrastructure for professional education, training, examinations, meetings, and capacity-building programmes.

According to a release issued on Monday, the new facility is intended to provide a stronger platform for the expanding community of Company Secretaries and students across Hyderabad and Telangana. The enhanced premises will enable the ICSI Hyderabad Chapter to expand its professional, educational, and stakeholder-engagement initiatives.

Speaking at the event, ICSI President CS Pawan G Chandak detailed the organisation's footprint, noting that the Institute of Company Secretaries of India currently has around 80,600 members and 2.5 lakh students nationwide. The Hyderabad Chapter accounts for approximately 2,300 members and 3,000 students.

Nationally, the ICSI operates 77 chapters. Chandak noted that the institute is also working to expand its international presence, which includes plans to establish a European Union Centre in the Netherlands.

Describing Company Secretaries as Corporate Governance Professionals, Chandak stated that India has emerged as a global leader in the domain. He noted that out of approximately 1.3 lakh corporate governance professionals worldwide, India alone accounts for 80,600 Company Secretaries, positioning the country in a leading global role in corporate governance.

Chandak further observed that the expanding regulatory and governance demands placed on modern businesses are creating substantial opportunities for qualified professionals. He also highlighted growing demand driven by the increasing formalisation and listing of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which require specialised corporate governance and compliance support as they transition into listed and regulated structures.
