HYDRAA to Survey and Demolish Illegal Buildings After Madhapur Collapse

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) will conduct a survey and take action, including demolition, against illegal structures in Anjaiahnagar in Madhapur following a building collapse that killed two persons.
HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath announced the enforcement drive after visiting the site of the collapse in Madhapur. During his inspection, Ranganath stated that the death toll could have been higher if more individuals had been inside the structure when it collapsed.
Addressing the situation, Ranganath noted that only a few people were present inside the building at the time of the incident. He stated that HYDRAA, along with municipal corporation teams, will carry out a joint survey to detect and document all illegal constructions across the area to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Commissioner said action would also be initiated against an individual identified as Sajid, who allegedly constructed multiple buildings on small plots measuring 50 to 70 square yards in the neighbourhood. The properties were subsequently sold to buyers who used them as commercial hostels.
Ranganath stated that strict action, including demolition, will be taken against such unauthorized structures built in violation of building regulations.
HYDRAA officials confirmed that teams will identify any illegal buildings constructed by Sajid throughout the neighbourhood. Officials reiterated that once violations are confirmed, necessary enforcement measures, including demolition, will be carried out.
