HYDRAA Resumes Demolition of Damaged High-Rise in Gachibowli's Anjaiah Nagar

Disaster Response Force teams from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency resumed demolition operations on a damaged seven-storey apartment in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli, on Monday following an overnight pause.

The demolition was ordered after HYDRAA and CMC officials conducted a joint inspection of the area and determined that the seven-storey building had sustained structural damage. Officials discovered that the apartment had been impacted and partially damaged when an adjacent illegal apartment collapsed onto it, leading to the decision on Sunday to raze the structure.

Demolition work was temporarily suspended on Sunday night. In an official statement, HYDRAA noted that the operation was paused to account for poor night visibility and to avoid disturbing the sleep of residents living in surrounding apartments.

Operations resumed on Monday under the joint supervision of CMC and HYDRAA officials. To prevent damage to nearby structures, teams deployed a heavy-duty, high-reach hydraulic machine nicknamed the 'Bahubali' machine, which the agency has used multiple times for demolishing high-rise buildings.

Demolition activities at the site faced additional delays on Monday as continuous rainfall hampered the operation throughout the day.
