Hydraa Identifies 202 Waterlogging Spots in Cyberabad to Prevent Monsoon Traffic Chaos

On June 2, 2026, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (Hydraa) and municipal officials reviewed rain preparedness and identified 202 waterlogging spots within the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) limits, located in the city's IT corridor, to prevent traffic disruptions ahead of the monsoon.
The coordination meeting, led by Hydraa Commissioner AV Ranganath, brought together representatives from various departments to address the recurring traffic challenges that motorists face on city roads during the rainy season. In recent years, monsoon rains have regularly led to marooned roads, long queues of vehicles, and hours of navigation through flooded streets.
To combat these issues in the newly carved out CMC jurisdiction, officials mapped out the 202 waterlogging points. Among these, 83 have been classified as major problem areas, 95 as medium problem areas, and 24 as minor problem areas.
During the meeting, Commissioner Ranganath directed officials to carry out desilting of nalas and trim trees that pose a risk of falling during storms. To assist motorists, he suggested sending SMS alerts to advise commuters to choose alternative routes during heavy downpours.
Ranganath also instructed the concerned officials to check if pumps need to be installed at railway under bridges (RUBs) to efficiently drain out rainwater and prevent water logging.
CMC Commissioner G Srijana assured that all necessary measures would be implemented to handle rain-related challenges. She stated that 98 percent of the desilting work in the corporation limits has already been completed.
In addition to drainage improvements, Srijana announced that authorities would soon inspect and take action regarding 161 dilapidated buildings in the area to prevent any structural failures during the monsoon season.
