HYDRAA Fences 400-Sq-Yd Park Land in Chandanagar's Arjun Reddy Colony

HYDRAA on Thursday secured a park site in Arjun Reddy Colony in Chandanagar by installing fencing and official signboards identifying the area as public park land, bringing an end to decades of encroachment threats faced by local residents.

The protected open space covers approximately 400 square yards located in Survey No 123 of Chandanagar within Serilingampally mandal in Rangareddy district. The land is part of a 3.24-acre layout consisting of 41 plots, which was originally developed in 1995 with the approval of the erstwhile Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA).

For years, residents of the colony had actively resisted repeated attempts by individuals claiming ownership to seize the earmarked park space. On multiple occasions, earthmoving machines such as JCBs were brought to the location to level the ground, but colony members stepped in directly to halt the unauthorized work.

Seeking a permanent solution, the residents previously approached the High Court to seek protection for both the park and the layout's internal roads. In 2022, the High Court directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to protect the site and its roads. However, a delay in constructing a physical boundary wall left the vacant parcel vulnerable to continuous encroachment threats.

Following the persistent risks to the open space, residents approached the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA). The agency intervened on Thursday by securing the perimeter with fencing and placing clear signboards marking it as protected park property.

Local residents welcomed the enforcement action, noting that the physical fencing marks a positive and decisive outcome in their long-standing community effort to preserve the neighborhood's designated green space.
