HYDRAA Demolishes Second Unauthorised High-Rise in Gachibowli

The Disaster Response Force teams of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) demolished an unauthorised seven-storeyed building at Anjaiah Nagar in Gachibowli late Sunday night. The exercise marked the second high-rise structure brought down in the area due to imminent safety risks.

The demolition followed an inspection by CMC and HYDRAA officials at Anjaiah Nagar, which revealed that the seven-storeyed building was severely damaged. Officials stated that the structure was compromised after another illegal seven-storeyed building had earlier collapsed onto it, leaving it at immediate risk of falling.

CMC officials confirmed that the newly demolished structure was constructed entirely without official approvals. In response to the serious threat of collapse, HYDRAA and the CMC launched a joint operation to dismantle the building.

To conduct the operation safely, HYDRAA deployed a specialised high-reach hydraulic machine, popularly known as the 'Bahubali machine'. The heavy-duty equipment was brought in to bring down the high-rise while preventing debris from damaging closely situated adjacent properties.

Officials exercised extreme caution during the operation because there was barely any physical gap between the surrounding properties. The surrounding area was described as increasingly hazardous due to multiple unauthorised seven-storey buildings constructed tightly on cramped 50-square-yard plots.

Because Sunday's operation carried potential risks, residents of the nearby Sterling White Field Apartment, neighbouring Jayadarshini Residency, were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Police personnel were also deployed to establish security cordons and keep the public safely away from the site until the demolition concluded.
