HYDRAA Demolishes School Wall to Reclaim Rs 100 Crore Land in Petbasheerabad

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday carried out a demolition drive in Petbasheerabad, Quthbullapur mandal, to reclaim 1.30 acres of prime government land. The reclaimed property, located within the Medchal-Malkajgiri district of Hyderabad, is estimated to have a market value of more than Rs 100 crore.
The 1.30-acre plot of land is located in Survey No. 25/2 and is under the official jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). According to officials, this specific land parcel is part of a larger 38.15-acre tract that had been previously allotted by the government to a journalists’ housing society.
To safeguard the allotted property, HYDRAA had earlier fenced off 36.25 acres of the total tract to prevent any unauthorized encroachments. However, the remaining 1.30 acres of the land had remained under the possession of St Ann’s High School.
The school management had been utilizing this portion of the government land as a sports ground for its students. Recognizing the situation, the school administration had previously approached the authorities to seek an extension, requesting time until the end of the academic year to vacate the property.
Despite the agreement, the school management did not remove the compound wall after the academic year concluded. Consequently, HYDRAA officials moved in on Friday to clear the encroachments.
During the operation, authorities demolished the encroaching compound wall structure. Following the demolition, officials successfully fenced the entire 1.30-acre plot of land and installed public notice boards officially identifying the area as government property to deter any future encroachment.
