HYDRAA Commissioner Inspects Lakes and Flood Points in Gachibowli and Serilingampally

HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath and Serilingampally zonal commissioner Narayan Amit Malempati inspected lake restoration projects and key waterlogging points across Serilingampally, including areas around Gachibowli, on Friday.

During the visit, the inspection team reviewed work at Ibrahimbagh Cheruvu in Neknampur as well as Bhagirathamma Cheruvu and Thoutanikunta Cheruvu in Nanakramguda. Ranganath directed officials to ensure that all lake inlets and outlets are scientifically designed to handle heavy inflows.

The commissioner instructed that sewage treatment plant (STP) construction must begin alongside lake development. He also stressed the importance of desilting the water bodies to expand their capacity to retain floodwaters during the monsoon.

Officials also inspected several locations where Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel had previously reported flooding, including areas near Gachibowli, Biodiversity Park, Malkam Cheruvu, and the University of Hyderabad. Box drain works were reviewed in coordination with officials from the GHMC, CMC, and MMC.

HYDRAA officials stated that desilting inlets and finishing box drain construction at Malkam Cheruvu and Khajaguda have already helped mitigate flood risks in the vicinity.

Near the University of Hyderabad, the team inspected newly laid pipelines designed to carry rainwater across the roadway. Ranganath noted that finishing the flood channel directed toward Pochammakunta will prevent stormwater from pooling on the HCU road this year.
