HYDRAA Clears Encroachments on Rs 20 Crore Parkland in Medchal

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Saturday carried out an enforcement drive in Medchal, clearing encroachments from a 1,970-square-yard parkland. The agency demolished illegal boundary walls and successfully fenced the reclaimed land in the Sai Sri Nilaya Layout to prevent any further illegal occupation of the public space.

According to HYDRAA, the recovered parkland is valued at approximately Rs 20 crore. The layout itself was originally developed in the year 2000 across a total of 13.31 acres in Survey Numbers 873 and 882. The entire layout consists of 256 plots, of which Plot Numbers 111 to 116 were earmarked to serve as a public park for the local community.

However, an area of about 400 square yards within this designated parkland had allegedly been encroached upon. The encroachers had divided the public space into smaller individual plots and enclosed the area with precast concrete boundary walls.

The local residents took action by lodging a formal complaint. The Sai Sri Nilaya Residency Welfare Society raised the issue of the encroachment directly with the authorities during HYDRAA's Prajavani public grievance redressal programme. This public grievance redressal programme served as the platform for the residents to seek official intervention from the agency.

Following the receipt of the complaint, HYDRAA officials initiated a joint field inspection. Working alongside officials from the concerned government departments, they inspected the Medchal layout and confirmed that the public parkland had indeed been illegally occupied.

During the demolition drive conducted on Saturday, HYDRAA teams dismantled the illegal precast concrete boundary walls. Once the structures were removed, officials worked to identify the exact boundaries of the park. To secure the area, they installed official boards declaring the site as parkland and erected fencing around the entire 1,970-square-yard property to protect it from future encroachment.
