Hyderabad Voters Face Confusion Over Online SIR Notices From Election Commission

Several voters across Hyderabad constituencies, including Serilingampally and Goshamahal, have reported confusion and lack of direct communication as the Election Commission began issuing notices under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The notices are being issued to voters whose details have anomalies or remain unmapped. However, many affected individuals stated that they have not received any physical notices, SMS alerts, or emails informing them about the discrepancies or scheduled hearings.

While some citizens discovered the notices after manually checking online portals, they encountered insufficient information regarding the next steps. In certain cases, the reason for issuing the notice was omitted, and voters noted difficulties in addressing discrepancies linked to their names or ages.

A voter from Serilingampally constituency found a notice in their name online without any stated reason. The portal listed a hearing date of August 31, but failed to mention a specific time. The voter noted that with Raksha Bandhan falling on a Friday followed by the weekend, there was concern over whether physical intimation would have arrived in time to attend the hearing on Monday.

In Goshamahal constituency, a voter named Malik learned how to check the portal after viewing an informational video. Upon checking, he found two flagged issues on his profile, including a discrepancy in his name and an incorrect flag alleging an age gap of less than 15 years between him and his father.

Many residents continue to navigate the online system without clear guidance on how to rectify these listed anomalies before their hearing dates.
