Hyderabad Traffic Police Book 404 Motorists in Two-Day Drunk Driving Drive

The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 404 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol during a two-day special drive conducted across Hyderabad on August 21 and August 22.
The enforcement operation was launched to enhance road safety and curb violations across the city. Over the course of the two days, traffic officers intercepted hundreds of vehicles and administered breath tests to identify motorists operating vehicles while intoxicated.
According to data shared by the police department, two-wheeler riders accounted for the vast majority of those caught during the operation. Out of the 404 individuals booked, 352 were two-wheeler riders, 30 were three-wheeler drivers, and 22 were operating four-wheelers or other categories of vehicles.
The traffic police also recorded the Blood Alcohol Concentration levels of the offenders to assess the extent of the violations. A total of 92 cases involved BAC levels between 30 and 50 mg per 100 ml. The largest share of offenders fell in the 51 to 100 mg range, where 179 cases were documented.
Further analysis of the BAC readings showed 63 cases in the 101 to 150 mg range, 39 cases between 151 and 200 mg, and 20 cases between 201 and 250 mg. Extreme levels of intoxication were also detected during the drive, with six motorists recording BAC levels between 251 and 300 mg, and five individuals registering BAC readings above 300 mg per 100 ml.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police reiterated that there will be zero tolerance towards drunken driving violations on city roads. Officials cautioned motorists that such targeted special enforcement drives will continue regularly and urged commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel and strictly adhere to road safety regulations.
